To create their uniquely chaotic blend of 80’s club music and dark lyrical content, DeathCowboy built tracks “$5.99 Shrimp” and “Gun Show” using a vintage E-Mu Systems Emulator II+, a synthesizer from 1985 that utilizes 8” floppy disks to load individual sounds as their main instrument. For reference, you’ve heard the Emulator II+ on seminal records by bands like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Tears for Fears and more.
A limited run of 500 7” records featuring “$5.99 Shrimp” and “Gun show” will be available on August 14, 2026. Each 7” features two hand-screened covers in lieu of traditional printed packaging.
The music video for “$5.99 Shrimp,” built around unearthed footage from Las Vegas in the 1980s, will be released on Friday, August 21, 2026.
